FROM: Jan Jones Blackhurst – Executive Vice President, Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility
Throughout the month of June, we celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month and honor the contributions that our company, our LGBTQ team members and guests bring to our communities.
Caesars Entertainment is a longstanding leader in advocating for LGBTQ rights and for anti-discrimination laws. For far too long, people have had to fight for equal rights in and outside the workplace. This is an issue that is personal for me – I believe in freedom of choice as an individual, and as a Caesars team member, I am proud to work for a company with an extensive history of leading LGBTQ public policy at both the state and federal levels. Additionally, we have been a steadfast advocate for our LGBTQ guests by honoring relationship recognition and marriage equality through our on-site commitment and wedding ceremonies.
We provide networking opportunities to our team members through our LGBTQ Business Impact Group (BIG), EQUAL, which was the first group for LBGTQ employees and their allies formed in our industry. Currently, we are expanding this BIG across the enterprise. We have also consistently supported local advocacy organizations representing the LGBTQ community. For example, we’re one of the largest corporate and Foundation allies of the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada (the Center) and over the years, many of our colleagues have been recognized by the Center for exemplary leadership in the community. At the national level, we have received perfect scores on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index for the past 11 years in a row, and hope to make it 12. Finally, we continue to support certified LGBTQ owned businesses and have partnered with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce to further advance opportunity for LGBTQ entrepreneurs and business owners.
Diversity is one of the key pillars of Caesars Entertainment’s Mission, Vision and Values – it always has been and always will be. Please join me in celebrating our commitment to equity and equality for all during LGBTQ Pride Month.
